Service Zone Planning

MGL c. 111C requires the Regional EMS Councils to assist and support MDPH in carrying out the coordination, maintenance and improvement of EMS in their region. In addition, the statute gives the Regional EMS Councils the responsibility of providing technical assistance to communities with the development of local service zone plans.

Region III staff work to both promote the development of service zone plans and provide education and technical assistance to local community elected and appointed officials within the region. The Region III EMS Council then reviews completed service zone plans and forwards recommendations to MDPH. Staff also works with communities to keep their approved service zone plans up to date.

Service Zone planning is a collaborative effort within the community and Region III staff are available to offer technical assistance to local communities and consultation on service zone standards, service delivery options and application completion in.

Contact Jonathan Brickett, jbricket@neems.org 978-792-5477, to discuss your service zone planning requirements.
